Alex Rae still has a lot to say about that dossier and vote, even making an outrageous claim about Celtic and SPFL’s relationship.

Rae regularly draws on his full playing career at Rangers spread across 34 first team league games in two seasons to provide his expert analysis and opinion. As a mouthpiece for the Ibrox side he’s usually very prolific, though strangely quiet on all the tax and EBT issues since he was named as a beneficiary of that doomed scheme by the Daily Record and others. He’s certainly been sought out or pushed forward for views over recent days.

He’s been speaking out on radio and in the Scottish Sun recently. The Rangers led request for an independent inquiry into the league body’s handling of the controversial Good Friday vote failed.  Less than a third of members backed them. This was nowhere near the required 75% threshold required. And it leaves Rae still angry and pointing fingers at the SPFL, Celtic, other clubs and more. It’s partly behind his ludicrous asterisk on a title point. His comments now seem to indicate he is suspicious on possible collusion.

"“I’m not exactly sure what Celtic’s relationship with the SPFL is.”“But let me just put it bluntly, it did not surprise me that Celtic spoke up prior to the vote and subsequently after it.”"

It’s just his comments though, he hasn’t got a dossier or evidence on that. He goes on to insist that the whole affair still needs looking into and confirming he expects that the Ibrox dossier writing team won’t be settling down anytime.

"“I’d be surprised if Rangers leave it at this because they still feel as if there’s still questions to be answered.”"

Rae has ignored the plea from another ex light blue player Kris Boyd who wanted to get everyone round the table and singing from the same hymn sheet. Maybe the Ibrox PR briefings to help get ex players on message aren’t as consistent or effective these days.

It’s hard to be sure what Rae is thinking might happen here. Maybe he hasn’t had that instalment of a briefing yet. Perhaps he’s thinking about whether there is a better way to sort all this.

Hey Alex, what about a vote? We could ask the clubs and see what they say!

Oh, wait a minute, we already did!
