Celtic captain Scott Brown opened up to the media recently about the season. Perhaps the most telling part was his discussion about Odsonne Edouard.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has never had an issue with being candid. His career began with him making a name for himself by being loud. But as he has grown and matured his words and actions have changed. Now, when he speaks you listen for you know it will carry weight and importance.

Brown spoke with the Daily Record earlier this week. The topics covered ranged from the beginning of his career, to soon lifting the coveted nine-in-a-row, all the way to the managers and players he has played under and with. It really is an excellent piece from Brown and worth the time to take a look if you haven’t already.

However, one of the big takeaways is what Brown had to say about Odsonne Edouard and his potential future. Rumours have swirled around for months about what will happen to the prolific striker as seemingly ever club in the world wants him.

Here is what Brown had to say to the Daily Record regarding his teammate, which helps shed a little light on the situation:

"“Odsonne has been phenomenal, as have Jamesie and Callum.“He still has a contract here and he loves being at Celtic.“Odsonne had the opportunity to go home, but he’s stayed in Glasgow and it shows he wants to be here.“That is great for us as we want him at the club as long as possible, as he is a special talent.“It will always be hard to replace a player like that.”"

Of course we all hope as fans that Edouard will stay with the Hoops, even if for just one more season to help chase the legendary 10-in-a-row. As Brown succinctly put, the striker is still under contract. That gives the Hoops a leg up despite contracts not meaning anything anymore.

It will be interesting to keep an eye on the Edouard saga as the summer progresses.
