Celtic angry with scout after youngster set to leave
By Kade Kistner
Celtic is angry after one of its former chief scouts is trying to poach another one of the Hoops’ players for German-side Bayern Munich.
The former-scout in question is David Moss, who was a former chief scout for Celtic. He has recently parlayed his scouting and talent evaluating skills into a more lucrative job where he is an agent and helps massive European clubs find talent.
Moss continues to do what he did with Celtic in a sense, just for massive European giants. As such, he remains familiar with the Hoops vaunted development program and scouting network. He is not afraid to exploit that knowledge as he proved when he helped Bayern Munich Liam Morrison last summer for the Bundesliga side.
Now, it appears David Moss is on the hunt for another Celtic youngster, and it appears the youngster could be on the move. The Hoops clearly cannot be happy that one of their former scouts is exploiting the system he helped create and run to farm that talent to another European giant.
And according to Football Insider, that appears to be exactly the case:
"“A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club hierarchy are in no doubt that Moss is once again the mastermind of another rising-star departure.“Hepburn is currently on a youth registration at his boyhood club after progressing through the ranks.“Celtic had hoped to tie him to a professional contract as soon as he turned 16, which was early last month.“But plans for him to head to Germany became clear when the youngster knocked back the offer.“Moss has once again used his contacts on the Continent to broker the transfer of a Scotland youth international for whom the Hoops have high hopes can make it at first-team level.”"
This is infuriating. Celtic have long developed their youth program into one of the best in the world. While many never see the first-team, many do. However, those that don not are usually shipped off by the club for fair transfer fees, not poached by a former chief scout.
It is becoming clear that Moss is building a name for himself as an agent for clubs in Europe by utilizing the Celtic developmental program for his own gain.
