Celtic has recently told English Premier League side Arsenal how much to expect to pay if they wish to sign striker Odsonne Edouard.

There have been tons of rumours swirling around striker Odsonne Edouard’s future in recent months. Will the superstar stay to help Celtic achieve the legendary 10-in-a-row? Or could he potentially see his exit during this summer’s transfer window.

We all know the Hoops have a penchant for identifying talent, acquiring said talent, developing it, then making profit off of it. Current Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is but just a recent example of such actions. Could the same be in store for Odsonne Edouard?

The asking price was assumed to be high for the French striker, but now Celtic has reportedly laid out a price to Arsenal if they wish to come and poach another Hoops player.

Now, the Daily Express has reported an initial asking price that Arsenal would be expected to pay for the services of Odsonne Edouard:

"Arsenal have been told that it will cost them in excess of £25million to prise Odsonne Edouard away from Celtic in the summer transfer window. Edouard has contributed a sublime 27 goals and 19 assists in 45 appearances including a Scottish Premiership best 22 league strikes."

To be completely honest, that asking figure seems to be a bit light. Tierney was shipped to Arsenal for that same amount. Edouard is arguably a more talented and productive player than Tierney despite playing at two separate positions.

I tend to agree with estimates that have Edouard’s transfer fee closer to £35 to 40 million. Edouard will excel in any league or club that he goes to. If the Hoops are willing to let him go, it needs to be for a Hoops record transfer fee that will benefit the Hoops club for many years to come.
