Scott Brown slipped up and might have dropped a hint about Odsonne Edouard’s Celtic contract extension that will leave the fans excited.

A huge concern for Celtic in the upcoming transfer window will be the contract situation of Odsonne Edouard. As things stand, the Frenchman will have a couple of years left on his contract at the end of his season. But the club might be looking to sell him if they cannot agree a new contract with him soon.

The board will very well know Edouard’s value to the team but letting him run down his contract could end up causing the club huge financial loss. And with some of the biggest clubs in Europe interested in the striker, that transfer fee might be too significant to lose out on.

As a result, earlier this week rumours broke out that the club had informed Arsenal of how much they had to pay to lure him to the Premier League. But a recent Scott Brown interview has provided fans with new hope of being able to hold on to Edouard for the next ‘couple of years’.

Speaking on Clyde Superscoreboard, Brown seemed to let slip that the Frenchman was set to remain at Celtic for the next couple of seasons. And keen-eyed Celtic fans were surely not going to miss out.

So what does this mean for Edouard’s Celtic future? Is it that the club will not let him leave even if he does not sign a new contract? Or is there an agreement between the two parties for a contract extension where the Frenchman will end up staying for the next couple of seasons with the understanding that he will be sold after the that? Or is Brown merely stating the length of his remaining contract and there is nothing more to this?

A lot of questions whose answers the fans will be hoping to get in the near future.
