Chris Sutton was at his trolling best once again when Rangers coach Michael Beale made a bizarre comment about Celtic’s League Cup win this season.
Now we are the first to admit that Celtic’s narrow 1-0 win over the Rangers in this season’s Scottish League Cup final at Hampden was not the Hoops’ best performance. In fact, if Steven Gerrard’s men had taken their chances on the day, then they might have even ended their long wait for a major trophy. But the fact of the matter is that they could not get the job done.
The majority of the chances fell at the feet of the Rangers but they could not find a way past an inspired Fraser Forster in goal, who put in an all-time great performance on the day. In fact, Celtic had a man sent-off in the form of Jeremie Frimpong and even conceded a penalty. And even then Steven Gerrard’s side could not score. They definitely did not deserve to lift the cup.
Rangers coach Michael Beale certainly was of a different view though and claimed that it was one of the most one-sided finals in history. That is the farthest thing from the truth and in fact Celtic looked the better team with 10 men after Frimpong got sent off.
What is one-sided though is how Celtic have dominated Rangers over the past decade. They have won the last nine league titles and while the Ibrox fans will point out how they were not even in the first division for a large portion of that time, whose fault is that they went out of business?
Chris Sutton was quick to hit back at Michael Beale’s comments in typical Big Chris fashion. The former Celtic man tweeted out:
The last two seasons have been one of the most one sided ‘maybe in history’... https://t.co/uKNYT2IJf0

Just for perspective, the Rangers currently sit 13 points behind Celtic in the Premiership table and this is probably their best side over the past decade.
