Sky Sports appear to have leaked UEFA’s future plans for the current season as they scramble for a way to finish the campaign.

It is safe to say that the future is uncertain not just for football but for society as a whole at this point of time. But even then, we are preparing for when things do eventually return to normal although nobody is sure at this point of time when that will be. And it appears that UEFA will do everything in their power to complete the current campaign.

With every passing day spent under lockdown, it is looking increasingly likely that things will have to be concluded as things stand at this point of time. And the cup competitions might have to be scrapped altogether.

Although UEFA had earlier threatened governing bodies regarding their place in next season’s European competitions if they decided to conclude their leagues, that might end up being the only logical conclusion if things don’t improve over the next month or so. And that looks very unlikely.

But according to Sky Sports, UEFA have not given up on finishing the season yet and will set a August deadline. Earlier the deadline had been set for June 30th but by now it is pretty clear that that is an unachievable task. The report further claims that that the Champions League ties will be scheduled for 29th August while that of the Europa League will be played on 26th August.

Celtic fans will be excited by the news as they will want to finish the season at all costs. By now, it is pretty clear that the Premiership title is headed to Parkhead for the ninth straight time one way or the other. But the fans will be keen to see the Hoops achieve history on the pitch rather than it being handed to them by some officials.
