Rangers fans had a meltdown after Dundee voted in favour of SPFL’s motion to conclude the three lower leagues and the Premiership could very well be next.

In a twist that the Rangers fans clearly did not see coming, Dundee FC voted in favour of SPFL’s motion to bring an end to the three lower leagues. And that can only mean that the Premiership is about to follow suit in the near future as Celtic will be rightfully crowned champions of Scotland for the ninth straight time, something that the Ibrox faithful were trying to stop at all costs.

Dundee were initially expected to vote in the negative as they were against the fact that teams would be relegated without all the games even being played. The fact that their city rivals Dundee United were top of the Championship surely had something to do with it as well though.

But then the club decided to push their rivalry aside to take a decision that was beneficial for Scottish football as a whole. Clubs around the country have been struggling for money since the football season was forced into suspension due to the rising number of coronavirus cases around the world.

The Rangers fans did not take too well to the news though and had a complete meltdown on Twitter, complete with all sorts of conspiracy theories:

Now that the SPFL can pay out the prize money, a lot of the financial pressure will be removed from the shoulders of a lot of clubs, at least for some time. Thus, Dundee FC certainly deserve a lot of praise for taking a decision with the future of Scottish football in mind. Unfortunately, that is not something that we can say about every club in the country.
