In another off-handed attempt to slight Celtic, Charlie Nicholas has now gone on to dismiss the meaning of winning 10-in-a-row.

Celtic are on the cusp of history. Just days after UEFA threatened domestic leagues that prematurely crowned champions that they could lose spots in Europe, that decision has apparently been walked back. As such, Celtic looked poised to finally finish out the season as champions.

That leaves the club with one more season to get through until they can achieve the historic 10-in-a-row. A feat that always seemed so far away. Fans around the world, regardless of which club they support can understand the difficulty and the level of talent it takes to accomplish such a feat.

But, there is one man who seems dismissive of the possibility of the feat, and that is Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas. He claims that too many are ‘bogged’ down by the notion that Celtic could go on to win the domestic championship 10 times in a row. This idea came when he spoke about the possibility of striker Odsonne Edouard leaving the club for one of the world’s biggest.

Speaking to Sky Sports, here is what Nicholas had to say:

"“He’s had his best goalscoring season and he’s scored quite a few in Europe so you are not just judging him on his tally in Scottish football. In the last six months, we have seen that defenders have tried to get physical by kicking him, we have seen him start to react in a good way.“Before, he might go missing for 20 or 25 minutes, but now when that happens, he gets agitated and tries even harder. As a result, he’s become Celtic’s key player and best by a distance. He will leave Celtic.“Some people are suggesting he’ll stay on next season as Celtic go in search of 10 titles in a row. People up north get so bogged down by it, but Edouard is now reaching a side of his career at 22 where, like Dembele, he will be looking at who are interested in signing him.“He’s in a position where he can take his time with this. Recently, there has been links with Borussia Dortmund and they have come back saying he’s not ready for them at this point because they have got Erling Haaland, but he’s also been marked down as a potential Arsenal player."

This is not the first time the pundit has brought up the striker in one of his rants. Everyone remembers Nicholas’s delusional ‘demeanor’ comments back in September, right?  Furthermore, Nicholas firmly believes that the 10-in-a-row, as historic as it would be, is not a good enough reason for Edouard to stay with the club for at least another year.

Nicholas, seemingly always focused on the wrong idea, believes that Edouard, in this point in his career is only interested in the money, rather than the accolades and the club. But let’s put this out there: the 10-in-a-row would be one of the most historic sports feats in history. Even Rangers fans cannot deny that one if they truly believe their club is as good as they believe it is.

Edouard may very well stay until that feat is accomplished. But if it were up to Nicholas, Edouard would shipped out, and the 10-in-a-row would mean nothing.
