One Scottish Premiership League star has made an admission regarding Celtic, and its top status within the Scottish league.
With the league on postponement due to the novel coronavirus, it seems all the news and airways have been filled with ‘what ifs’ regarding the season’s continuation or conclusion. Instead of that, we are taking a look at one Scottish Premiership League star’s admission about Celtic being by far the best club in the league.
It comes as little surprise for Celtic fans that our club is the best in the league. We already knew that, just look back on the last nine years, and especially the last four years. But, it always comes as a bit of a surprise when a leader from another club makes that same type of admission, especially to the media.
However, that is exactly what St. Mirren defender Conor McCarthy did when he spoke with the Daily Record in a story that was published Monday. Conor McCarthy did not hold back when talking about his current situation as well as the situation at the top of the table i.e. Celtic.
Here are McCarthy’s words from the Daily Record’s article that chronicled the most recent match between the clubs when Leigh Griffiths scored a hat trick:
"“It was strange going to Celtic knowing that you weren’t expected to get anything from the game.“At my previous club we were always kind of at the top of the table fighting for leagues and stuff. It was a strange feeling how the tables are turned.“One minute you are fighting for leagues in Ireland and then in a couple of months, you see that these lads are away ahead of you. They showed that is the level you need to get to.“There is no doubt that Celtic are the best team in the league and the quality of player was at a different level.”"
We are sure it was quite the shock to make the move from Ireland, and their quality of football, over to the SPFL where McCarthy would have to contend with Celtic multiple times a season. Teams like Rangers are a different story, if you get our drift.
In any case, McCarthy, and the rest of us may have to wait just a while longer until we get to see football action once again. Until then, stay safe and stay healthy!
