Incoming Rangers chief David Graham has landed in hot water for distasteful comments he made about Celtic in the past.

It is no secret Celtic and Rangers fans do not like each other. In fact, it would be closer to reality if we say that most of the supporters of the two Glasgow giants hate each other and do not hold each other’s sides in high esteem.

The two clubs have dominated Scottish football over a century now. And the rivalry between them has attained mythical status in footballing folklore, both for the achievements of the two teams as well as the heated atmosphere whenever the they take on each other. It is easily one of the biggest derbies on the planet.

Thus, it is not a surprising sight to see them hurling abuses each other on social media or in real life. Yet one does not expect that kind of behaviour from the club’s chiefs, at least in public. But that is exactly what incoming Rangers Communications and Media chief David Graham has been exposed for doing.

Earlier this week it was announced that Graham, a member of the Orange Order, would be taking over from James Traynor. The appointment was not a popular one from the start with many fans questioning Graham’s credentials to represent the Rangers. And when the video of a speech from him went viral on social media, it must have left the board questioning their decision.

In the video, Graham said:

And now there is another controversy surrounding the Orange Order member. Daily Record have managed to unearth a Facebook post made by him in 2011 where he refers to Celtic Park as “the piggery”.

I don’t think we don’t need to explain why that is very offensive term. And this is coming from a man that will be representing the Rangers in a high official position. Bravo!
