Rangers may be playing without some of their biggest stars on Sunday as they are set to host Celtic at Ibrox for the Glasgow Derby.
Celtic will be travelling to take on their cross-town rivals Rangers on Sunday in the Glasgow Derby. The Hoops currently sit 13 points atop the Scottish Premiership League table and will be looking to extend that even further.
Rangers have not been in great form domestically lately, but will see playing Celtic as an opportunity to prove that they can keep up with the Scottish champions. However, their woes may continue now that they have some fitness issues heading into the Glasgow Derby.
Rangers may have to face off against the best club in Scotland down three of their biggest stars. Ryan Jack, Jermain Defoe and James Tavernier are the three stars in questions with injury and fitness concerns.
Speaking to Glasgow Times, Rangers manager Steven Gerrard gave an update on the three:
"“Ryan Jack won’t make it.“Defoe will be out for a couple of weeks with a calf problem.“Tavernier didn’t train today with a foot problem but will give him until the last minute to make it.”"
Without those three players, Rangers really have less teeth to worry about for the Hoops. However, Celtic will still need to field their absolute best and play their absolute best in order to defeat Rangers.
Another loss to their bitter rivals would be not only a head-scratcher but borderline embarrassing for the club and fans. Hoops manager Neil Lennon should continue to stick with two up top, as Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard are in rare form as of late.
It will take an all hands-on-deck effort to see the victory through and go up 16 points in the table. We think Celtic is up to the task.
