As if it can’t get any worse for the Ibrox club, now Sir Kenny Dalglish is slamming Rangers striker Morelos by calling his action scandalous.

Rangers have been on a downward trajectory, or spiral if you will, for a few months now. After defeating Celtic in December, it seems like nothing has gone right for the club domestically. NOw, Sir Kenny Dalglish is slamming one of Rangers’ biggest stars by calling out his actions as “scandalous”.

Alfredo Morelos was booked with a red card when they hosted Braga in the Round of 32 of the Europa League. By doing this, he was unable to participate when they travelled to Braga for the second leg.

Afterwards, he asked to visit family in Colombia, in which Rangers manager Steven Gerrard kindly obliged. Instead of returning on time, Alfredo Morelos returned late which saw him further disciplined.

Kenny Dalglish, in his Sunday Post column, breaks down the situation quote eloquently:

"“The Colombian striker asked his manager for a few days off on compassionate leave, and that was granted to allow him to go back home to visit his mother.“Every manager has been there with that kind of request. Steven had to allow the player to return home. If he hadn’t, who knows what kind of reaction there would been. But for the player to have then returned late back to Glasgow was very poor.“In fact, it was scandalous. It’s not the first time this has happened to a manager, and it won’t be the last, either. It’s part of the job and it happens at all levels. Players will let you down, unfortunately.“For Morelos to do that to Steven and the club was out of order. As has been the case from day one, Steven tried his best for the player and protected him many, many times.“He put his trust in the player and the player let him down. It left Steven with a decision to make in terms of whether or not to play him against Hearts in the Cup.“One thing Steven doesn’t lack is the bottle to make big decisions. And he made the right call by leaving Morelos out. Rangers should still have had enough to win the game, and the same applied to the clash against Hamilton.”"

What is interesting is whether or not Alfredo Morelos conspired to do this intentionally or not. Things are not looking good at Ibrox as far as the culture and climate go with calls for the manager’s removal, and key players being called into question.

If Alfredo Morelos did not do this on purpose in order to send a message or add fuel to the fire, than he truly is one of the least forward-thinking players in the sport, and needs to address his shortcomings.

In any case, the issues that they have over at Ibrox are allowing Celtic this ability to walk towards nine-in-a-row with ease. Long may they continue!
