Celtic and Rangers players and staff won’t be seen shaking hands when they face each other in the upcoming Glasgow Derby at Ibrox.
The upcoming clash between Celtic and Rangers at Ibrox is expected to be a high tension affair. Steven Gerrard’s side have completely fallen apart in domestic competitions since returning from the winter break and currently find themselves 12 points behind the Hoops in the league and out of the Scottish Cup after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Hearts at the weekend.
Thus, the Rangers’ last hope to gain anything out of their domestic campaign this season is for them to beat Celtic on both occasions that they face them and then hope that the Hoops stumble again. An unlikely situation, but their fans would be hanging on to the last thread of hope at this point of time.
And now the two sets of players are set to not even shake hands when the two meet later this month, after the Scottish FA and SPFL wrote to clubs telling them not to shake hands either post or pre match, after fears regarding the Coronavirus has spread all around Europe in recent days.
The @ScottishFA & @spfl have written to clubs telling players & match officials NOT to shake hands pre or post match at Scottish games. Starting tonight with @HibernianFC v @JamTarts , and all the other big games in the lower leagues @BBCSportScot @BBCScotlandNews #coronavirus

At this point of time, this is the only action that has been regarding the issue. Italy, which has been worst hit in Europe with the virus, have even postponed a number of their games. While the Swiss League has been completely suspended for at least three weeks in order to assess the situation.
And there are genuine fears around Scotland too that the same could happen if the virus starts spreading wildly.
In this situation, one can only request the people to take proper precautions as this is a serious health issue. With medical professionals advising people to keep their hands clean at all times in order to avoid being infected.
