Celtic officials are reportedly not impressed with their big-money signing after a string of lackluster performances since moving to Parkhead.

Celtic are absolutely flying at the moment. Their 3-1 win at home yesterday over Kilmarnock left them 12 points clear at the top of the table after Rangers stumbled once again in a 2-2 draw against St Johnstone.

This is an incredible turn around barely two months after there were genuine fears that Steven Gerrard’s side could derail their quest for a historical nine-in-a-row. As it turns out, those fears were wildly premature as Rangers have looked a mere shell of the team that beat the Hoops at Parkhead heading into the winter break.

Now while we are not saying that the title race is already done and dusted, considering the fact that there are still two derbies left in the season, it will take a minor miracle if Celtic do end up handing their rivals the title after taking such a convincing lead with just 10 games left in the league. As expected, the Hoops are absolutely buzzing at the moment.

One man who will not be as happy though is Celtic’s big-money January signing, Patryk Klimala. The Pole was brought in for a fee of around €4-million but has failed to make any impact since then.

And if The Athletic writer Kieran Devlin is to be believed, then those around Parkhead are already starting to give up on the January signing. When asked about the striker during a Q&A, Devlin said:

"“Have heard people inside the club aren’t impressed with him so far but it’s also only been six, seven weeks.“Klimala was always a strange one from the start, underlying reports were never that impressive. Seemed a bizarre move to sanction for that money.”"

At this point of time, Klimala is certainly starting to look like a panic buy who was only brought in because the club were facing the pressure to make a statement signing after being completely dominated by Rangers at home. It is highly questionable whether they would have gone for him if they had a 12-point then like they do now. Most probably not!

Of course there is still time for him to turn things around. It is not unexpected for a new signing to take some time to adjust to Scottish football. The early signs are not very promising though. And the fact that he just has 11 top-flight goals in his career will surely have Celtic fans fearing that they he was just a waste of money.
