Kris Boyd went on an angry rant as Celtic went 12 points clear of Rangers after Steven Gerrard’s slipped up against St Johnstone.

Remember that time everyone was panicking after the Rangers managed to beat Celtic at Parkhead for the first time since 2010, earlier this time? Turns out that it was all a bit too premature.

Also, remember how Gerrard celebrated wildly following the full-time whistle as if he had secured the Premiership title? Turns out that was a bit of a joke.

Rangers have managed to slip up again but that should not come as a huge surprise, if you know what we mean. While Celtic’s ruthless run following that loss at the hands of their rivals continued with a 3-1 at home against Kilmarnock thanks to goals from Kris Ajer, Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.

It was a completely different picture for Steven Gerrard’s side though. They fell behind early to the hosts after a terrible mistake from Nikola Katic, who had a nightmare of a game. But after scoring twice in the second half, it looked like they had managed to secure a comeback win only for St Johnstone to equalise in the 80th minute, leaving Rangers’ title challenge in tatters.

One man who did not take too well to the result was Kris Boyd. The former Rangers man has been very vocal about his former side’s title chances this season. But it looks like one failure after another following the winter break has left him red-faced and angry.

Boyd went on a rant in his post match analysis. As reported by Daily Record, he said:

"“I could stand here until the cows come home tonight and I won’t change my mind – it was the worst 90 minutes I’ve seen from a Rangers centre-half. That I can remember anyway. The first three clips here (of Katic mistakes) are before the goal – the goal went in in the eighth minute!“Steven Gerrard sent George Edmundson out to warm up after 10 minutes. Its schoolboy defending. If that was once today that that happened, you could say he was unfortunate there.“If that was once today that that happened, you could say he was unfortunate there. It was three or four times from Nikola Katic today, if he was heading up in the air, if he was kicking it up in the air.“For me, personally, I struggle to find a worse 90 minutes from a Rangers centre-half, I’m sorry. I just thought from start to finish, it wasn’t good enough. I’ve never seen it in Nikola Katic from the start.“I had a little period where I thought to myself ‘You’re doing the basics, as a defender, just clear your lines and you can be effective’. But today, not just today, since the break to be honest, the bad habits have been creeping back into his game and that would be a worry that you have had criticism from the mistakes before and you’ve not learned from them and you continue to make them.“Now I hear Edmundson should be playing, well, Steven Gerrard picks Nikola Katic ahead of him and that doesn’t say much for him (Edmundson) either.“For me, Steven Gerrard and Rangers as a football club have got a massive, massive job to rebuild that defence because I’m sorry it’s not good enough. We praise Rangers going forward, and rightly so, but defensively it was all over the place.”"

He appears just one of the many Rangers fans who are slowly waking up from their title dreams. And it is safe to say that they are not reacting too well to the sudden revelation.
