Celtic Predicted Starting XI vs FC Copenhagen: Frimpong’s return
By Kade Kistner
The Celtic Bhoys try and predict which starting XI Hoops boss Neil Lennon will pick for the clash against FC Copenhagen on Thursday.
Neil Lennon has a tough choice when deciding how to line up Celtic’s starting XI on Thursday against FC Copenhagen. The two up top formation has worked wonders since returning from the winter break, but the original 4-2-3-1 formation did well in the Europa League Group Stages.
It would be hard to imagine that Neil Lennon would deviate from what has been working recently, stick with the hot hand-type of theory. But the Hoops will need their most lethal players on the field, and playing at their best. FC Copenhagen represents the toughest challenge the Hoops have faced this New Year.
It would be hard to see Lennon not wanting to put Jeremie Frimpong back in the starting Xi, especially if he is healthy. Away goals are incredibly important during these Europa League ties and Jeremie Frimpong is an electric player who can make a difference, which is why we believe Lennon will roll with the 4-2-3-1 formation. If the Hoops can come out of Denmark with goals scored, that would be a victory in itself. Copenhagen’s manager has already alluded to being happy just having a draw on Thursday.
Here is The Celtic Bhoys’ predicted starting XI against FC Copenhagen on Thursday:
- Fraser Forster
- Jeremie Frimpong
- Christopher Jullien
- Kristoffer Ajer
- Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo
- Callum McGregor
- Scott Brown (c)
- Ryan Christie
- Olivier Ntcham
- James Forrest
- Odsonne Edouard
The Hoops midfield has been lackluster the last few matches, and they will need to step up if the Hoops are to secure a victory. Jeremie Frimpong’s return would bring much needed additional speed and firepower to the lineup.
Again, away goals are golden, which is why by putting your playmakers upfront, you give yourself the chance to score those coveted away goals before heading into the home portion of the tie.
