Alfredo Morelos seems to like the spotlight a bit too much as the Colombian striker has now come out to blame Celtic fans once again.

This week has been a roller-coaster ride for both Celtic and Rangers fans. The Hoops are now back in control of the Premiership title race just a month after the media had made it look like they were more likely to get relegated this season than win a ninth straight league this season following their loss at the hands of Steven Gerrard’s side at Parkhead.

As it turns out, the calls for Rangers being the most dominant force in Scottish football might have been a bit premature. And that reality is quickly setting in for their fans. The team has looked extremely sloppy since returning to action from the winter break, dropping 5 points in the last 3 Premiership games.

Thus, it is hard not to feel that all these stories about Morelos circulating in the media this week might be a way to get the attention off of the team’s performances on the pitch. At first, Celtic fans were blamed when a man was found under his Lamborghini, apparently trying to cut off the brakes. As it turns out, it was a private detective hired by his own wife to keep track of his whereabouts.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Colombian has now doubled down on his accusations towards the Celtic fans of racism:

"“Yes I’ve felt racism both on and off the pitch.“It’s very sad to feel that way but it’s not something that affects me much. I just try to focus on my job which is scoring goals and winning matches.“Sometimes it’s frustrating when a crowd is throwing coins at me or throwing drinks at me, obviously saying racist things to me and making chants about my mother which is obviously very offensive.“Those things affect my family and are frustrating but I am a strong person and I always believe things can be overcome with hard work. I just focus on my job and try to forget about these things.”"

The weird thing about this how Celtic fans are never branded as ‘racist’ by anyone else. Combine that with how strongly they reacted against the Lazio fans earlier this season and it seems extremely unlikely that anything of this sort would happen at Parkhead.

Of course, there is no place for racism in football and if there is any shred of truth in these accusations, then the guilty must be punished as soon as possible.
