Celtic are interested in another player, this time a winger from Manchester City. However, the Hoops are not the only club with interest.

Celtic has been linked to numerous players this transfer window, and some have come to fruition. While big names have been thrown around as rumours for the Hoops, another name has shown up on the docket. The Hoops reportedly have interest in English Premier League-side Manchester City winger Ian Carlo Poveda.

Competition remains stiff for the winger as Leeds United, Torino and Parma are all pursuing the Manchester City winger as well as Celtic according to the Daily Mail. The Hoops need additional help at the winger position, especially with Mohamed Elyounoussi being injured, and Mikey Johnston seemingly falling out of favour with Hoops boss Neil Lennon.

It seems like Ian Carlo Poveda may prefer Torino after flying out to Italy to watch Torino play Bologna this past weekend. However, his future is undecided.

As HITC has pointed out, the Hoops may still stand a chance at snagging the coveted winger:

"“Celtic have a long history of striking deals with City, as the likes of Jason Denayer, John Guidetti, Dedryck Boyata, Patrick Roberts, Olivier Ntcham and Jeremie Frimpong have all made the move from the Etihad Stadium to Parkhead in recent memory.“Celtic may sneakily hope that City will send Poveda their way this month, as the wide man can leave inside the final six months of his City contract.”"

The 19-year old winger perfectly fits the Hoops mold as a player that could come in and make an immediate impact, but is still young enough to improve. The Hoops would bank on that improvement so they then could turn around and sell the winger for profit in coming years.

While Ian Carlo Poveda seems like a long shot for the Hoops, one cannot discount the relationship that Celtic has developed with Manchester City over the course of the last few years. Ian Carlo Poveda would be one of the biggest signings for the Hoops of the season, but this one seems like a longshot.
