Celtic are set to lose one of their stars in January with three English clubs interested in signing the 24-year-old defender.

It is funny how quickly things can change in football. One moment you are considered to be the future of the Scottish national team and the very next you cannot even manage to find a way into your club side. At least that is what happened with Jack Hendry after moving to Celtic.

It was not too long ago that the Hoops were desperate to bring the defender to Parkhead from Dundee FC. He caught the eye of then Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, and it took multiple bids from the club before they finally managed to agree a £1.5 million with The Dark Blues.

Back then Hendry was considered to be a huge part of both Scotland and Celtic’s future. But his career has completely stalled since then and he has managed only 11 minutes of football at Parkhead following the arrival of Neil Lennon. And it should come as no surprise that the centre-back is absolutely desperate to leave the club in order to bring his career back on track.

According to reports in the Daily Record, there is some interested for the 24-year-old in England. League One sides Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers and Lincoln City. That is a huge fall from grace for a player who was once considered as a future Premier League prospect but a move that he must make as it does not look like his Celtic career is going anywhere.

It is not hard to understand why the English trio are willing to take a risk on Hendry. He was magnificent during his time at Dundee FC and if he can rediscover that form, he can easily be the best player in that league. Celtic on the other hand would not mind getting him off the books.
