Odsonne Edouard or Alfredo Morelos – who is the better player? The debate rages on between Celtic and Rangers fans. Well, let us tell you which one of them will win the Scottish Premiership at the end of the season.
They are certainly two of the best players in Scotland right now. Two young foreigners tearing it up in Glasgow. Each already having crossed double digits in terms of goals scored this season. Yet when it comes to trophy winning pedigree there is only one you could pick between the two forwards and he wears #22 for Celtic.
Alfredo Morelos is a fine striker on his day. Perhaps, even a more natural goalscorer than his Celtic counterpart. He has scored 69 goals since arriving at Ibrox in 2017. But is he the striker you want in your team when the day comes?
The Colombian seems more like a flat-track bully. One who’ll score five goals against one team if it is there for him instead of letting up when the game is won. But he is not the type of player who’ll drag a team cross the finishing line single-handedly if push comes to shove. The fact that he is yet to score in the Old Firm Derby should speak for itself.
Odsonne Edouard is that type of striker. He thrives on the big occasion, the limelight. He comes alive whenever Celtic take on Rangers. The man that you can depend on a tough day to get you the win when nothing else seems to be working out.
So while the stats may seem to favour Morelos in terms of sheer goals scored, there is more to the debate than just that. And even more importantly, Edouard seems to want to play for Celtic.
Both strikers have been linked with a move away from their respective clubs. But only one them seems to want out – Morelos. The Colombian has publicly asked for a move to the Premier League multiple types in the past and according to reports, he is even hoping it comes as soon as January.
Edouard, on the other hand, seems to be enjoying his life and is thriving at Celtic Park. He has stated it in the media any oppurtunity he gets. That is the kind of man you want at your club. That is definitely he type of striker you want leading the charge for a record-equaling ninth straight Scottish League title.
