The Swedish international has been immense for Celtic over the years, but despite starring in the European Championships for his homeland, at club level he has shown that he is in the twilight of his career.

Opposition teams are now focusing on Lustig as the weak link among Celtic’s defence. Sadly, his time at Celtic is up when his current deal finishes at the end of this season.

The 32-year-old has been a great servant to the club playing 257 times in all competitions for Celtic during his seven years at the club – scoring 20 goals. He has won seven league titles [potentially eight come the end of this season], three Scottish Cups and four League Cups.

His departure will be heartfelt not only by Lustig and his family but within the Celtic support and his teammates also – there needs to be a change at right back and sadly Lustig is no longer the man he once was.
