Celtic survive Zenit hangover vs. Aberdeen, key points
By Nick McAdam
1) Effect of Mikael Lustig Red Card
Nobody said that this was a clean contest all the way through. Red cards were shown to both sides in this one, while a total of four yellow cards and 29 fouls were shown and committed.
Lustig, a Celtic veteran, was given the lesser end of the stick in this fixture. Unfortunately for him, he was already on a yellow card as he went in for a challenge on Gary Mackay-Steven. It was definitely a ruthless tackle, and a risky one at that.
No awareness of the scenario from the Swedish defender got him sent off late in the contest, which eventually saw Jack Hendry being brought on for James Forrest.
Lustig is usually a mainstay at the right-back position in domestic play. With him gone in the contest against Dundee, who starts in his place?
Recently, Forrest himself came into the fullback position which put Lustig in a central defensive role. However, the Celts lined up in more of an attacking formation for both legs of the clash with Zenit.
Who can make an argument against Anthony Ralston for the next contest? He’s seemingly fallen off the face of the Earth after inking a new deal not too long ago. Right-back is his natural position, and it’s against a side that should result in victory for the Bhoys.
