Scottish refs are going to be Scottish refs again

Few matches went without controversy in the SPFL this weekend, and a lot of that controversy came courtesy of some dodgy officiating. No match was more influenced by officiating than the highlight match of the weekend — Hibernian’s visit to the s#*t pit to face Sevco.

Things were dicey from nearly the first whistle for referee John Beaton. He struggled to keep control of a competitive and high-spirited match from the beginning. It resulted in a grand total of nine yellow cards and one red card being handed out. Sevco’s Jack Ryan was the red card recipient, while six of his teammates received yellow cards.

But, that wasn’t the only headline for the refs this weekend. I mean, a full SIX red cards were handed out on the weekend — three of them coming to Motherwell alone.

No doubt some were justified, but you want to talk about ruining the game, getting that many players off the pitch in one weekend will certainly do that.

Perhaps messages on the level of play and brutality on display were also being sent this weekend, but holy crap is this level of officiating messing with the league or what?
