Martin O'Neill continued his winning run since returning as Celtic manager for a second interim spell this season. But to be honest, this was not a display that he can be proud of. Taking on Auchinleck Talbot, this should have been a cruise for the Hoops, even while naming a second-string side. Instead, they were given a run for their money and could only manage a 2-0 victory, with the goals coming from Johnny Kenny and Sebastian Tounekti.

There were no standout performances to speak of. The need for new signings remains clear, although, considering the inefficiency shown by the board in recent times, one can only wonder when or if they will be made this winter.

And even when the club are able to make signings, the quality is in serious doubt. Just look at someone they shelled out £5 million for in the summer.

We are talking about none other than Michel-Ange Balikwisha. He was scouted by the club for over a year before they ultimately were able to sign him last summer. It is hard to see why though, as he has looked completely out of his depth and could not even impress against Auchinleck Talbot. Most Celtic fans have already given up on the Belgian ever turning out good at Parkhead.

As one Celtic fan wrote: "I hope we never see Balikwisha in a Celtic jersey again. Worst signing in our history."

This was not an isolated comment either. There are plenty who seem to have seen enough from Balikwisha already and believe that it is already time to move on.

There were some rumours about him moving on in this winter transfer window. And on the back of what we saw tonight, it would not be a major loss for the Hoops if that actually did end up happening. Let's see how things play out.
