Wilfried Nancy has not been appointed as the new Celtic manager yet. But it is believed that it is only a matter of time and he will be in place at Parkhead by next week. Of course, there are plenty of doubters when it comes to the French manager, who has enjoyed success in the MLS but has no experience in Europe.

We shall see how it turns out for Nancy, if or when he is brought in by Celtic. It will be a mistake to depend just on him to turn things around for the Hoops though.

Any manager is only as good as the team available to him. And this current Celtic squad is not good enough. They were already weak to start with and now have several key players out injured for the foreseeable future.

So, the January transfer window needs to be used smartly to bring in reinforcements and strengthen the squad. And it looks like Nancy already who he wants as his number 9 at Celtic.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Nancy will target a move for Columbus Crew striker Wessam Abou Ali in January, as soon as he’s confirmed as the new Celtic manager. The Frenchman has immediately identified an urgent need to strengthen the Hoops' attacking options.

Nobody can argue with that view. Celtic have never really replaced Kyogo and Adam Idah. On top of that, Kelechi Iheanacho and Callum Osmand are out injured, leaving Johnny Kenny as the first-choice number 9.

It was just this summer that Columbus Crew signed Ali. And he has played only five times for them, as he got injured. But in those five matches, he did score three goals and provide an assist.

Ali looks like a natural goalscorer, who has scored wherever he has been at. Before Columbus Crew, he scored 38 goals and provided 10 assists in 60 games for Al-Ahly.
