The January transfer window is going to be vital if Wilfried Nancy is to have any chance of being a success story at Celtic. The Frenchman lost his first four games after arriving but has brought things back a bit with back-to-back wins since then. Unfortunately, there were reasons to be worried in those two victories as well. The defence looked exposed at times and could be in trouble when up against quality opposition.
On the other end of the pitch, the Hoops could do with some help as well. And it looks like Nancy might be keen to reunite with one of his former Columbus Crew players.
As reported by the Daily Record, Nancy is also looking to add to his front areas. The French manager is keen on a move to team up with his former Columbus Crew star Diego Rossi again.
Ross scored 19 goals for the Columbus Crew last season, playing mostly in the number 10 role. But he is capable of playing as a forward as well, and even on the wing if the situation calls for it.
Wilfried Nancy keen on Celtic signing 19-goal midfielder
At the international level, Rossi has some pedigree as well. He has represented the Uruguayan national team on seven occasions, scoring one goal for them.
Also, he is 27 years of age. So, he is a player entering his prime on the pitch. Celtic have mostly stuck to signing highly-rated youngsters. Let's see if the club are willing to tweak their transfer policy to reunite Nancy with one of his favourites from Columbus Crew.
One also has to wonder what kind of a transfer fee it would take to sign Rossi from Columbus Crew. And if he does arrive, who will sit out from the current starting XI.
