One Celtic player has come in for more criticism than most after Sunday's crushing Old Firm defeat to Rangers.
There is blame aplenty to be dished out. Celtic were awful all over the pitch, and we even saw a big mistake from experienced and reliable players like Kieran Tierney. Callum McGregor didn't have any control on a position he locks down, Mika Baur was non-existent, and the usually superb Camilo Duran simply didn't fancy it.
The list goes on, but none have been criticised more than Sebastian Tounekti. Why? The winger has been out of form for weeks. He actually started the season looking pretty sharp, but after a couple of weeks, he has looked sub-standard, unable to consistently beat his man, and his deliveries, when he can manage them, have been poor.
By Martin O'Neill's admission, Tounekti wasn't supposed to start this game. Haissem Hassan was all set to start, despite being a right-winger, and illness overnight meant Tounekti started and Hassan dropped to the bench.
On the surface of it, that feels like a valid reason, but why must we pretend Tounekti is the only option? In terms of being naturally left-sided, he may be, but the majority of wingers can play on both sides, even if it changes the dynamic of an attack a little.
James Forrest, who has experience of these games, could have come in, even if it meant Duran playing on the left, although most rightly feel as though Duran should have started centrally.
It's pretty clear Shim Mheuka could be a threat out wide, and Kieran Tierney has experience of playing on the wing, with Liam Scales able to cover on the left, which could have been a useful duo against agile Rangers right-back Dujon Sterling.
Tounekti can do better, and here's to hoping that he will. This isn't a call to never start him again, or to write him off as a Celtic player. But a manager has to recognise when a player is in poor form and cannot be selected as a starter.
That is especially the case in an Old Firm game, when you cannot afford to be carrying passengers, which Tounekti was. But it is important to keep in mind, the winger is getting the worst of the criticism because of his overall form. There were players who were just as bad elsewhere on the pitch on Sunday.
