Rumours have broken out recently that Tottenham Hotspur could be ready to sack Ange Postecoglou, no matter what happens between now and the end of the season. The Australian joined the club in the summer of 2023, leaving Celtic merely days after guiding them to a treble. But he has found the going much tougher in England.
Tottenham Hotspur are currently in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Of course, one cannot overlook the injuries that they have had to deal with. That being said, the club have shown a lot more patience with Postecoglou, than they have with previous managers.
It has been a long time since Tottenham Hotspur won silverware. And it remains to be seen if Postecoglou is the one to bring an end to that streak, with the Europa League still up for grabs. But in the long run, this does not look like a good fit.
Interestingly, this might be good news for Celtic as well. Daizen Maeda had been linked with a reunion with Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur. It is hard to see that move happening if the Australian was no longer at the London club.
Why Ange Postecoglou sack decision is good news for Celtic
Of course, there are many who might view this as the 'wrong' way of looking at the situation. After all, Postecoglou brought so much success to Celtic.
That being said, perhaps leaving Tottenham Hotspur is the right step for Postecoglou as well. Things are clearly not working out for him at the club right now and it might be time for a change of scenery.
As for Celtic, Tottenham Hotspur might not be the only club after the signature of Maeda. It is easy to understand why, considering how well he has done this season, already scoring 30 goals.
