It would be an understatement to say that Celtic fans are not satisfied with how things have been run at Parkhead in recent times. Their lack of ambition and efficiency in the most recent summer transfer window might very well prove to be the reason that change is brought about at the club. At least that is what the supporters are hoping to see.

Even Brendan Rodgers has admitted that the football model at Celtic needs to change. On the other hand, the supporters are planning a protest in the game against Kilmarnock.

They seem intent on reminding the board about the presence and importance of the 12th man. That is why they won't be in the stands at Rugby Park for the first twelve minutes of the game against Kilmarnock.

Of course, this is an important game, with Celtic having the chance to go nine points clear of the Rangers, after Russell Martin's side lost 2-0 against Hearts at Ibrox. So, what do the players think about the protest that has been planned.

What Celtic players think about fan protest vs Kilmarnock

Luke McCowan has given some insight into the Celtic dressing room ahead of the match against Kilmarnock. As reported by the Daily Record, the midfielder said:

"It will, it'll be a lot quieter. I'm sure the Killie fans will be singing and us players will just need to bring our atmosphere that we always do.

“Hopefully after the 12th minute it'll be loud again and the players can just focus on the game. From the first minute onwards, that'll be the message I'm sure from the gaffer and all the players.

“You've got to know that at big clubs like Celtic situations like this might arise.

“But the players that are within the team need to be focused on matches, on the training and just being a player.

“Don't think you're any bigger than that.

“You leave the guys in the shirt and ties to deal with all that business and let us guys that have got the boots on take care of that side."

Of course, the last thing that Celtic need right now is for them to stumble against Kilmarnock. That will only increase the negativity that has surrounded the Hoops for the past few weeks.

Celtic need to win this game. Not only to take a nine-point lead over the Rangers but also to keep up with Hearts as well, who look pretty good this season.

It remains to be seen what kind of team Brendan Rodgers puts out against Kilmarnock after the underwhelming performances we have seen from some of the regular starters recently. It will be interesting to see the thought process of the manager.
