It is safe to say that the majority of the Celtic fanbase wants the club to show Wilfried Nancy the exit door. The Frenchman has lost five out of the seven games since taking charge of the Hoops. But it looks like the board is ready to stick with their choice for the time being, rather than changing direction and admitting their mistake.
At some point, common sense will need to prevail though. If Nancy ends up guiding Celtic to defeat at the hands of the Rangers in the Glasgow Derby this weekend at Parkhead, there might very well be no way back for him, no matter how much they want to see the Frenchman succeed.
If they do end up sacking Nancy at some point, they will need to get the next appointment spot on, if there is going to be any chance of saving the season. And many would like that choice to be Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou is without a club at the moment, having been sacked by Nottingham Forest after just 39 days. When Brendan Rodgers ended up resigning, it is believed that the Australian was asked the question. What did he have to say back then?
What Ange Postecoglou has said about returning as Celtic manager
As reported by Born Celtic, ACSOM’s Paul John Dykes said:
"I’m going to throw this out here, lads, because we’ve just been beaten again. It’s very disappointing.
“I can see the league title disappearing into the distance. And then we get Gabby Gardner jumping in and saying, ‘Go get Ange’.
“I mean, yeah, take it all day long. Apparently he was asked the question. You know, he was asked the question after Brendan left.
“He said his head was all over the place at that point. Do you go back to him?"
At that point, Postecoglou might not have been ready to return to management, having been sacked back-to-back in quick succession. He has had some time to clear his head since then though. Would he be open to the job if asked about it now?
That is possible. And if Celtic do end up sacking Nancy at any point, they do have to ask Postecoglou the question about a return once again. He is the perfect man for the job, who has shown he can succeed here.
