Celtic need to sign a striker before this transfer window closes after seeing Kyogo Furuhashi leave the club to join Rennes recently. They have been linked with a number of forwards in recent days but so far, nothing has materialised in terms of a deal as we quickly head towards deadline day. On the other hand, it looks like a centre-forward might be ready to leave Parkhead in the near future.

Unfortunately, Celtic do not have a good record when it comes to giving opportunities to youngsters. The last player to come through the academy and become a starter for the club was Kieran Tierney.

It is safe to say that it has been quite some time since then. And now, it looks like another one of their highly-rated talents is on the verge of leaving.

As reported by the Daily Record, West Ham United are closing in on a pre-contract for Daniel Cummings. They have opened talks and are now at an advanced stage over a summer switch for the talented striker, who is out-of-contract at the end of the season.

West Ham United appear to have won the race for Cummings' signature or are close to doing so. He was linked with a lot of clubs recently.

It is not hard to understand why either. Cummings has been in spectacular form for Celtic in the youth and developmental teams this season.

Unfortunately, that has not led to him getting too many chances to impress at the first-team. To be honest, it is understandable why so many youngsters choose to leave Celtic these days because in recent years, the pathway from the academy to the senior team simply has not existed. That is something that needs to change as soon as possible.
