It is pretty clear that Celtic want to see Wilfried Nancy turn into a success story at Parkhead. If that was not the case, the Frenchman would have been sacked after losing his first four games in charge. But the club have stuck with him. Merely that is not going to be enough, though. The Hoops need to back him in the transfer market and strengthen the squad this January.

There are several areas in need of reinforcement. At the same time, it feels like this is not the right squad setup for Nancy to implement his style of football.

So, expect some changes to take place this January. And it would not be a surprise if Nancy tries to bring in some players that he is already familiar with. In fact, if reports coming out of Turkey are accurate than one such move appears to be only a matter of time.

As reported by Fanatik, Diego Rossi is preparing to move to Celtic. It is claimed that his former manager intervened to facilitate the move.

Rossi is currently at Columbus Crew. Obviously, Nancy knows him well. The two worked together in 101 games, with the Uruguayan scoring 45 goals and providing 19 assists. Excellent numbers for someone who was deployed mostly in the number 10 role.

Rossi does have a decent record at other clubs as well though, which should fill Celtic fans with confidence that he is capable of reproducing his form in Scottish football as well. His only spell in Europe has come at Fenerbahce for whom he had 30 goal contributions in 90 appearances.

At the international level, Rossi has seven caps to his name for Uruguay. He did manage to score once for his national team as well. And at 27 years of age, he might only be entering his prime right now.
