After weeks of disappointment and frustration amongst the fans, it looks like things are finally starting to move in the right direction for Celtic in the winter transfer window. Coming into 2026, everybody knew that substantial additions needed to be made all across the pitch. And while that remains the case, at least we seem to be closer to that goal now.

The most important thing that Celtic needed this winter was to strengthen their ranks up front. They look set to do that very soon.

Several reliable sources have suggested that a deal has been agreed with Borussia Monchengladbach for Tomas Cvancara. And as reported by Sky Sports earlier, the Czech Republic international is travelling to the UK ahead of undergoing a medical on Wednesday.

Nothing has been made official so far. But according to Florian Plettenberg, it is possible that the announcement and signing will only follow on Thursday.

Anyways, all things considered, things are moving in the right direction. Expect the signing to be made official in the near future.

That being said, Celtic fans won't be getting too comfortable just yet. We had been in a similar situation with Jocelin Ta Bi earlier in the window. But then, that move fell apart at the final step and he ended up joining Sunderland instead. There were suggestions before that that an injury had come up during the medical, which needed surgery, which is why the Parkhead switch never ended up happening.

We will be hoping that there is nothing of that sort on the cards when it comes to Cvancara. Celtic need a striker and as soon as possible. It would be ideal if he is at the club and available for the game against Hearts at the weekend.
