With the winter transfer window deadline not far away, the Celtic board will know that they have once again left themselves with too much to do. Just like the summer, this has been another frustrating watch for the supporters, as the club have been constantly linked with one player after another, without any real progress being made in terms of signings.
The only two signings that have been made this month are loan ones. Tomas Cvancara has been brought in from Borussia Monchengladbach to strengthen the striker ranks. Julian Araujo has arrived from Bournemouth to help at right-back, with Alistair Johnston out of action for the foreseeable future after undergoing surgery.
There are a few more areas where Celtic still need to strengthen. One of them is striker, although the return of Kelechi Iheanacho might help in that, if the Nigerian can finally stay fit.
Kieron Bowie is someone Celtic have been heavily linked with this winter. The Hibernian striker has found form and impressed those around Scotland and Europe. But unfortunately, a move to Parkhead is not on the cards for him. Instead, he will be heading to Italy, as so many Scottish talents have in recent times.
'Undergo a medical' - Sky Sports confirm £6m transfer amid Celtic links
As reported by Sky Sports Scotland, Kieron Bowie left Edinburgh Airport this morning to undergo a medical at Hellas Verona. He is set for a £6 million move to the Serie A.
Bowie has impressed for sure. But at the end of the day, he has managed just 9 goals in 30 appearances this season for Hibernian. Does that kind of output justify a £6 million transfer fee, if you are Celtic?
It is much more likely that Celtic will sign a striker from a different league, ideally on loan for the rest of the season. Let's see if that happens or not.
