Celtic once again retained their Scottish league crown, but unfortunately, this time around, that won't result in direct qualification to the Champions League opening phase. The Hoops have been in the competition for the previous three seasons, based on winning the Premiership. But they will have to go through a qualifying round to make it.

Of course, no Celtic fan will be taking that lightly. We know the history that the club have had when it comes to Champions League qualifiers and how many years they were absent from European football's top competition as a result of their failure to make it through qualifiers.

Their possible opponents have now been narrowed down to two. Celtic will face either Slovan Bratislava, who they defeated 5-1 last season, or Kairat Almaty. And it appears that the time and place of the legs have now been made official as well.

Celtic's home leg will be played on 20 August at 8 pm BST. And the away game will be played on 26 August, at the same kick-off time.

Of course, considering how well Celtic did against Slovan Bratislava last season, most fans would want to see the Hoops face them again. But no opposition should be taken lightly, especially over two legs, with the away one being second.

The opposition will have the opportunity to just manage the Parkhead leg before heading back home with a scoreline that gives them a chance. A lot of the time, that can be enough, especially with the away record that Celtic have in Europe.

Let's see how things play out over the two legs. But first, we need to figure out who Celtic will take on. Hopefully, everything will go in their favour and there will be Champions League football at Parkhead this season.
