It would be safe to say that it is difficult to predict where Celtic's managerial search is headed. Wilfried Nancy does seem like the frontrunner for the job but it is not set in stone yet. There are still a few other candidates in the background, and the possibility that new names could crop up. On the other hand, the club might even decide to stick with Martin O'Neill until the end of the campaign, as results are going theri way since his arrival and more options would be available in the summer.
Other than Nancy, the likes of Kjetil Knutsen, Kieran McKenna and a few others have been linked with the job as well. But it looks like one of them is not in the running, despite the rumours linking him with the vacant Parkhead job.
As reported by Michael Shearer of CeltsAreHere, Nicky Hayen has not held talks with Celtic. The Club Brugge manager has not been interviewed by the club.
Hayen is currently the manager of Club Brugge and has enjoyed a decent bit of success with them, both in Belgium as well as European competitions. So, a lot of Celtic fans were intrigued by the idea of his appointment but it does look like any move is on the cards.
Top manager has not held talks with Celtic despite links
There is no doubt that Celtic are a bigger club than Club Brugge in terms of size. On the pitch, the Belgian side are ahead of them when it comes to a competitive level though.
Also, one would imagine that Hayen would not have a very tough time attracting interest from one of the top five European leagues, if he wanted to leave Club Brugge. His resume in Belgium is excellent.
As a result, it is not hard to see why he might not be interested in the Celtic role. Was there any interest from the Hoops in him? We do not know.
