Celtic fan group The Green Brigade have joined in releasing a statement critical of the club's board over the poor recruitment this summer.
The Bhoys came into the summer promising a stronger recruitment push after setting Brendan Rodgers up for failure last summer. Martin O'Neill asked for multiple signings this summer, and only one new signing has been delivered up to this point, and we have just two weeks until the new season begins.
It has been a recruitment disaster from Celtic, who say they are struggling to convince players to move to Glasgow, while Rangers already have a long list of new signing, and many of them have come from abroad.
The excuses have not gone down well with Celtic, and, in fact, they have only further highlighted the incompetence of the Bhoys' recruitment staff.
Ultimately, clubs should be sounding out targets months in advance and speaking to them well in advance to find out whether they are indeed realistic targets. To think Celtic are approaching targets this summer and being left surprised by rejections just speaks to a totally rookie and half-baked recruitment strategy.
Fans are losing whatever patience they have left, and boiling point is close to being reached, especially with the lack of communication between Celtic and the fans.
That is something that has been echoed by a statement released by ultras group 'The Green Brigade', who have followed The Celtic Supporters Association in taking aim at the board.
The Green Brigade's statement in full
"The Green Brigade echoes the concerns of the Celtic Supporters Association and reiterates our longstanding call for meaningful change within the Celtic FC hierarchy.
"Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay have repeatedly demonstrated their inability to fulfil the responsibilities of their roles. They have also proven they do not possess the strength of character to hold Dermiot Desmond to account for the direction of the club.
"This suspension is driven by Mark Hargreaves, with the consent of Nicholson and McKay, as part of a petty and vindictive campaign of harassment against the Green Brigade. This falls against a backdrop of continued empty promises from the Celtic board to engage with supporters and improve communication channels.
"The only consistent communications supporters receive are marketing and merchandise campaigns designed to extract more of our cash while re-investing little in the team or infrastructure of the club."
"Until these changes happen, we encourage all supporters to commit to 'Not Another Penny' and support the Celtic Fans Collective."
