January signing Maddi Wilde made her debut for Celtic Women against Glasgow City earlier into the match than expected.

After Lisa Forrest clattered into Emma Lawton, the right-back was left bleeding. She was eventually forced off, applauded by both sets of fans as she left, and she was replaced by London City Lionesses loanee Wilde.

You could immediately feel the buzz in the ground as the travelling Celtic supporters were excited to see their new signing in action. And action they got to see as the player immediately sprang into life.

She was everything the Celts could've hoped for. Wilde was solid when defending, putting in brilliant stops to slow down Glasgow City's attacks. When on the attack, she moved further up the pitch to support forward players, and her crossing ability stood out among the rest.

It was like having a second Lawton, and if you ask any Celtic fan, they'll tell you that's a great thing.

Wilde impresses in draw

Celtic were held to a draw by Glasgow City at Petershill Park as Nicole Kozlova opened the scoring, with Morgan Cross pulling one back on the hour mark.

You would think it would take some time for the new signing to settle into Glasgow, but if we were told that she had been playing here for years, we would've believed you!

There was not a single ounce of nerves in the player's body, and it was like she already knew how to get the best out of her teammates. She played some fantastic passes, and her crossing ability is one to behold. If she can continue to get herself into great positions, while also making sure she isn't caught out of position during a counter attack, then she will thrive in the Hoops.

Fans will be happy to know that Emma Lawton will not be out for long, as we are able to confirm she could be back in action as soon as next week. The fullback has been in great form for the Celts this season and is a big part of their title push.

Celtic remain five points off the top spot, with Rangers and Hearts above them. Since Grant Scott came in, there have been positive sides, but some fans are still concerned about the Hoops' abysmal record against top sides in the league.

It was massive that Celtic were able to pull a draw back, and Wilde was a huge part of why they were able to. Evie Rabjohn came on to make her debut, and she also helped to see out the result.

It's an exciting time to support Celtic Women, and with the SWPL being one game away from the end-of-season split, things are about to get dramatic.
