The Sweden camp has been speaking about the decision to send Benjamin Nygren and others home early from the national team camp last week.

The Celtic star had already made one substitute appearance and one start for his nation during this window, even scoring in the second game. But he was one of several players to contract a bug after the second game, and those players were immediately isolated from their teammates and later sent home to avoid the bug spreading through the squad ahead of Friday's draw with Bosnia and Herezgovina and Monday's date with Romania.

Ahead of the clash with Romania, Sweden's team manager, Kim Kallstrom, explained the decisions. He said: "It has been a difficult gathering with many cancellations and changes in the squad. We have been exposed to challenges we normally don't have, but that's how life works.

"No one has complained, but we have chosen to focus on what we can influence. We always review our procedures and fix things as soon as we discover them."

Sweden boss Graham Potter added: "It is a very unfortunate situation. But I don't know if we could have done anything differently - things like that happen. It's important that we are good at handling it and now we look forward."

We don't yet know whether Nygren will be available for this weekend's clash with Motherwell, but it seems likely he will be, given there is a full week between when he was sent home and the game. Naturally, it will depend on the severity of the bug and how his symptoms evolve.

Celtic are hoping to get through this international break without any injury setbacks, and thankfully, it looks as though Yang Hyun-jun has recovered from a hamstring scare. But for a number of players, the break isn't quite over yet, so the Bhoys still have some nervous waiting to do.
