Celtic have two quality options up front right now in the form of Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah. Neither might be in top form at the moment but both have scored their fair share of goals this season and will hopefully get stronger over the coming months. On the other hand, it feels like the Hoops need to bring in someone to fill the role of third-choice striker behind those two.

Many Celtic fans would want to see Daniel Cummings take up that role thanks to his impressive form at youth and developmental levels. But he is not the only one catching the eye this season.

Johnny Kenny, currently on loan at Shamrock Rovers, has been showing his goalscoring prowess as well. Not only has he scored consistently at the Premier Division level, but he has also delivered in Europe, scoring 5 goals in the Conference League and twice in the Champions League qualifiers.

As a result, Kenny might be ready to be part of Celtic's squad and it looks like a return to Parkhead is very much on the cards for the striker. In fact, he has confirmed those plans himself.

As reported by Glasgow World, Kenny said:

"I'm going to go back to Celtic and train to see where it takes us.

"But I just want to enjoy the occasion next week. The club and players deserve it. I just want to enjoy Christmas and then see what comes in January."

Kenny might be in good form but he is not taking anything for granted as he knows what it takes to make it at Celtic. He continued:

"I think I'm a lot different going back, as you can see from this year. But to play for Celtic Football Club you have to go to another level and that's what I have to do.

"Obviously, it's a big ask but it's been good this year, very good, but this year will be gone when I go back to Celtic in January so you have to impress there. This will be gone and it won't be worth anything really. I just have to go there and show Brendan in training that you're worth it."

Of course, if Kenny does end up getting that third striker spot at Celtic, one has to wonder what that would mean for the future of Cummings. He has been linked with a move to England recently due to his brilliant form. Will he become another highly-rated youngster who leaves Parkhead before ever making it in the senior team? We have seen Rocco Vata and Daniel Kelly follow that path this summer.
