Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one name that refuses to leave the Celtic transfer rumour mill. The England international became a free agent this summer with his contract at Everton running out. When a player like that becomes available, more often than not, he ends up getting linked with a move to Parkhead. Inevitably, that has been the case.
How genuine is Celtic's interest in signing Calvert-Lewin though? And even if they do want to sign him, do they have a chance of doing so?
It looks like we finally might have an answer to both those questions. The latest update coming out of England might clear up this situation once and for all.
As reported by CaughtOffside, Celtic are one of the clubs interested in the former Everton striker. Also, sources with a close understanding of Calvert-Lewin's situation informed the outlet that he is likely to ask for as much as £100,000 per week.
'Sources' - Massive Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Celtic update
That should put an end to all the rumours linking Celtic with a move for Calvert-Lewin. The Hoops are not going to pay anybody £100,000 per week.
Then you take into consideration the fact that Calvert-Lewin has struggled with a lack of fitness and form for the past several years. And then, there is little to no chance of a move to Celtic ever materialising unless he is ready to lower those salary expectations significantly.
Of course, Calvert-Lewin might not have a lack of suitors who might be both capable and willing to meet those demands. Manchester United as well as Saudi Pro League clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on him.
You should never say never in football. So, let's just say that it is pretty much impossible that this rumoured Calvert-Lewin to Celtic move ever materialises.
