Celtic fans have been pretty unhappy with how things have turned out in this summer transfer window. With Brendan Rodgers in the final year of his contract, the hope was that the Hoops would go all out to convince the manager that Parkhead is the place to be and extend his deal. But it has felt like the complete opposite.

Kieran Tierney and Benjamin Nygren look like good additions. But other than that, not much first-team quality has been added to Rodgers' squad.

As things stand, they look weaker than they were this time last year. That should never be the case at a club like Celtic, especially after a successful Champions League campaign.

One area that Celtic need to strengthen this summer is striker. Adam Idah is struggling to nail down a spot in the starting XI at the moment, despite getting more than enough opportunities. The Hoops shelled out big money to sign him last summer from Norwich City, but that appears to have been a mistake. A new option needs to be brought in to lead the line.

Richard Kone is someone who had been linked with Celtic earlier in the summer. But he has ended up joining QPR.

That might be a decision that Celtic end up regretting. As reported by Football League World, Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie said:

"I think to be quite honest yes, they will regret it. I think Leicester have a bit more strength, but QPR have a younger squad and he'll probably get more game time there than at Celtic or Leicester and that might have been an important part of the decision. Between them and Swansea, it would have been between those two."

Kone scored 21 goals across all competitions in the previous campaign while playing for Wycombe in the third division of English football. Now, it remains to be seen how he does with QPR.

It is very clear though that he knows his way to the back of the net. Someone like him could have been a decent addition to this Celtic team and just what they need, as they lack goals up top. But it was not to be.
