Has the Wilfried Nancy situation taken a U-turn? That is what many Celtic fans have been left asking themselves after the club's announcement earlier in the day. Many had expected the Frenchman to be appointed as the Hoops' new manager before this international break came to an end after reports broke out that talks were advancing between the two parties.
Celtic's announcement earlier today that Martin O'Neill and Shaun Maloney will remain in charge until a permanent manager is appointed does suggest that that won't be the case. If the Nancy move were close, there would have been no need for it.
So, have Celtic hit a stumbling block? Or is it just a delay? Or are they having second thoughts about making the appointment, with the supporters clearly unimpressed with the links?
There is an update on the situation. It looks like discussions have not fallen through after all. As reported by Anthony Joseph, the club remain in talks with Nancy.

Reports earlier in the week had suggested that the club were holding talks with more than one candidate. It is unclear who the other one or ones are though.
The likes of Kjetil Knutsen, Ange Postecoglou, Robbie Keane, Craig Bellamy and Nicky Hayen seem to be out of contention, even though they have been linked with the job at one point or another. The only name doing the rounds of the media right now regarding the Parkhead vacancy is that of Nancy.
It would not be a real surprise though if the Nancy move does not go through in the end. Very recently, we saw the Rangers open talks with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Kevin Muscat, only for it to lead nowhere at all.
