Kyogo has been the starting striker for Celtic since joining the club in the summer of 2021. He was the face of the Ange Postecoglou era as the Hoops exceeded all expectations and won five trophies in two seasons, straight after the 20/21 campaign. And while the Japanese forward's output has dropped a lot since Brendan Rodgers became the manager, he has retained his place as the first-choice number 9.
Celtic did sign another striker in the summer, bringing in Adam Idah for a significant transfer fee after a fantastic loan spell. But unfortunately, the Irishman has not been the most convincing this season.
As a result, parting ways with Kyogo in the middle of the campaign would be a mistake for Celtic. Yet, that has not stopped the Japanese forward from being constantly linked with an exit.
In the summer, he was rumoured to be on the radar of Manchester City as a potential Julian Alvarez replacement. Now, he has been heavily linked with Atlanta United.
Sky Sports man drops major Kyogo Celtic exit update
There is a positive update on the situation if you are hoping to see the Japanese forward to remain at Parkhead. As reported by Anthony Joseph, Atlanta United like Kyogo but a move for him is looking increasingly unlikely.
It does look like Atlanta United do want to sign another striker. But that looks set to be someone other than Kyogo. Interestingly, Celtic hero, Odsonne Edouard, is also someone who is on the MLS club's radar right now.
Of course, the important thing for Celtic is that Kyogo stays put. He might not be matching the numbers that he was putting up in his first two seasons in Scotland, but he is still the club's best option when it comes to the striker position.
