It was just last summer that Matt O'Riley left Celtic to join Brighton & Hove Albion for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of €29 million. Since then, things have not gone as the Danish international would have envisioned. Injuries played a part in derailing his debut season with the Seagulls, as he had to wait until the end of the campaign to get a proper run of games in the starting XI.

When given chances, O'Riley impressed. And it looks like that was enough for some of the biggest clubs in Italy to come calling again.

Both Atalanta and AS Roma have been linked with O'Riley this summer. But it is Napoli who have made the first move, putting in a €30 million transfer offer for the Danish midfielder. It remains to be seen if that is enough to convince Brighton & Hove Albion.

On the other hand, there is some positive news for Celtic as well. When asked, Anthony Joseph confirmed that there is a sell-on clause for the Hoops when it comes to O'Riley. It will be only on the transfer profit that Brighton & Hove Albion make from his departure, if there is one.

Of course, this does not mean that Brighton & Hove Albion have decided to part ways with O'Riley. They are not a club who lose patience too easily.

But, it has been confirmed that Brighton & Hove Albion will be open to O'Riley's departure if their transfer valuation is met. What that magic number is is not clear at this point in time.

Of course, Celtic have already landed a significant sell-on fee this summer with Jeremie Frimpong joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen. Could they land a second one with O'Riley leaving for one of the clubs interested in signing him?
