Signing another winger has to be near the top of Celtic's wishlist this winter. That is because Luis Palma is expected to depart the club after barely featuring in the first half of the season. Rayo Vallecano of La Liga are believed to be looking to sign him while he has also been linked with a move to the MLS.
On the other hand, Celtic have been linked with a long list of wingers as well. It will be interesting to see who they end up making a move for him.
Recently, it had been suggested that they are interested in Lazio's Gustav Isaksen. But he is not the only one on their radar.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are in talks with Sarpsborg over a potential deal for Sondre Ørjasæter. It’s understood that the Hoops first made contact in early December for the Norwegian winger who has two years left on his current contract. Clubs in France and Italy are also keen.
Sky Sports man confirms Celtic talks to sign Norwegian winger
Ørjasæter has shown some decent quality while playing for Sarpsborg. He has also represented Norway at youth international levels.
That being said, Ørjasæter is still just 21 years of age. So, if Celtic did end up signing, he is not someone who would be expected to come in and immediately establish himself as a starter ahead of Daizen Maeda or Nicolas Kuhn. He would very much be an option on the bench and be considered a 'project signing'.
Of course, just because Celtic are in talks does not mean that a move for Ørjasæter will definitely transpire. One would think that they have their eyes on other wingers at the same time as well. Let's just hope that whoever arrives is able to make a positive impact.
