It is becoming hard to predict who the next Celtic manager will be. Ange Postecoglou, Kieran McKenna and Craig Bellamy all seem to be out of the race already, for one reason or the other. There have been suggestions that Robbie Keane would be interested in holding talks with his former club if an approach is made. But he is not the only Irishman on the Hoops' radar as they look to fill the void created by Brendan Rodgers' resignation in the middle of the season.
Dermot Desmond is expected to have his say when it comes to the appointment of the club's next manager. He was believed to be instrumental in Rodgers' return in 2023 as well although we all know how things ended.
As reported by Sky Sports, Damien Duff is also in the frame and being assessed. The Irishman has strong ties with Desmond.
Duff has been a coach at Celtic in the past. He also had a successful stint managing Shelbourne in Ireland. But fans will not be convinced that he is anywhere near ready to take up a job of his magnitude. He simply does not have the experience as a manager yet.
Sky Sports link Celtic with another Irish manager after Robbie Keane
Duff has been linked with other jobs lately as well. One of them is the Republic of Ireland national team one.
On the other hand, there are quite a few other managers who seem to be on the radar of Celtic. A few have a lot more pedigree than the likes of Keane and Duff.
One of them is Nicky Hayen of Club Brugge. He has done a fantastic job with the Belgian club, both domestically and in Europe.
The same can be said about Kjetil Knutsen and what he has achieved with Bodo/Glimt. Both of them could be excellent picks for Celtic at this point.
