It was another weekend without a win for the Rangers. They could only manage a draw against Falkirk. And while Celtic were not much better themselves, in terms of their performance, they did find a way to come back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 against Motherwell, thanks to a dramatic late winner from Daizen Maeda, who has faced a ton of criticism in recent times.
Coming back to the Rangers, they have only one win from their seven league games. Of course, from what we have seen so far, Celtic fans would love to see him continue in the job for as long as possible.
Last month, there had been suggestions that the club were firmly behind Martin despite his rough start to life as a Rangers manager. Unfortunately, it looks like the situation has changed just a few weeks later, as they have continue to show no signs of improvement.
As reported by Sky Sports, Martin’s Rangers future is in doubt. Discussions will be had over the next 24 hours following the 1-1 draw at Falkirk.
Sky Sports drop Russell Martin sack update that will interest Celtic
Well, when updates like this start coming out, it is only a matter of time before the manager is shown the exit door. The best-case scenario is that Martin will be given a game or two more to save his job.
But after what we have seen so far this season, it is hard to imagine that anything will change, even if he is given that chance. It looks like the Rangers are set to sack a manager for the fourth straight season but none were this early.
As for Celtic, there have been some calls for Brendan Rodgers to be shown the exit door after their poor performances and results lately. But if they can get their act together, there is a good chance that that situation can change quickly. It is hard to say the same about Martin and the Rangers right now.
