Celtic are on the verge of signing one winger, as Michel-Ange Balikwisha's arrival is expected to be announced very soon. It is unfortunate that they could not get it done in time for the Champions League qualifier playoff tie against Kairat Almaty. It remains to be seen if an understrength Hoops side can win away in Kazakhstand and qualify for Europe's top competition.

They are expected to sign another winger, after Balikwisha, before the summer transfer window slams shut. It makes sense. Nicolas Kuhn left for Como FC this summer and Jota is expected to remain out injured for the foreseeable future, at least the rest of this year.

Calvin Stengs is someone the Hoops are believed to have on their radar. But any move for him depends on qualification to the Champions League.

As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic have explored the conditions of a deal for Stengs. The Scottish champions enquired earlier this month and are more likely to follow-up their interest if they make it through to the Champions League.

You can never keep things waiting in the transfer market though. That allows other teams the time and opportunity to swoop in and get deals done before you. And it looks like the same thing is about to happen in this Stengs saga.

As reported by Anthony Joseph, Pisa are moving quickly to secure the signing of Stengs. The Serie A club are close to agreeing a loan deal, with an option to buy for £6m.

So, long story short, it appears that Celtic are set to miss out on the chance to sign Stengs, even if they wanted to bring him to Parkhead. Let's see how their game against Kairat goes though, as that is the most important thing right now.
